Susan has worked with over 50 independent review organization (IRO) clients and participated in writing over 100 IRO reports. She advises clients in the healthcare sector on compliance and corporate integrity agreement (CIA) matters. Susan has over ten years in the healthcare industry and focuses her practice in areas of risk mitigation compliance and litigation support. She regularly works with in-house legal counsel corporate compliance officers and outside legal counsel advising on corporate compliance matters and the negotiation and implementation of CIA provisions.
Professional Experience
Susan was previously employed by Ernst &Young LLP where she was a member of the Health Science Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services practice. During her tenure at Ernst & Young Susan assisted numerous clients in implementing various requirements resulting from a CIA.
She also served as engagement director on numerous IRO engagements. Prior to joining Ernst & Young Susan served as counsel in the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at the United States Department of Health and Human Services. While at the OIG she was responsible for overseeing the provisions of numerous CIAs. In addition Susan was responsible for drafting two of the OIG's compliance guidances. Prior to working with the OIG she served in the general counsel's office of a major teaching hospital.
