As a principal founder of NEEP, Sue Coakley has served as Executive Director and a member of the Board of Directors since 1996. The focus of her work at NEEP is the development of regional strategies to increase energy efficiency in homes, buildings and industry.
Previously, Ms. Coakley was the staff lead on energy efficiency policy at the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, where she helped develop energy efficiency policies and programs, as well as regulations for the purchase of power from independent sources. As a consultant, she served as director of collaborative efforts in Massachusetts and New Jersey to successfully develop, implement and evaluate energy efficiency programs. She has also been involved in policy efforts in Northeast states to upgrade building energy codes as well as energy efficiency appliance and equipment standards and to maintain a role for ratepayer funded energy efficiency programs and renewable resources in electric utility restructuring.
Ms. Coakley holds a master’s in natural resource management and administration from Antioch/New England Graduate School, and held an apprenticeship position at the Management Institute for New Hampshire Non-Profits through Antioch/New England Graduate School. She received her bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Windham College in Putney, Vermont. |
