As Vice President of Mission and Human Resources at Saint Alphonsus, Susan is responsible for Mission Services, Chaplaincy, Ethics, Palliative Care, Community Benefit Program, Government Relations, School Nursing, Parish Nursing, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Organizational Learning Services, Employee Assistance Program, and Early Learning Center, and the Healing Environment Initiatives.
Before joining Saint Alphonsus, Susan worked for the Schumpert Health System in Shreveport, Louisiana, for over a decade. She served as Assistant Administrator of Mission and in 1995 was named Vice President for Community Health.
Her healthcare experience evolved from her college days, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and her work as staff nurse at medical facilities in Texas and California. Her academic background includes a Master of Arts in Theology from the University of Notre Dame; a Masters in Business Administration from Centenary College in Shreveport and Ethics Certification Level II from the St. Louis University Center for Healthcare Ethics. She is presently seeking her doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University.
Susan serves on the Board of Directors for United Way of Treasure Valley and the Humphreys Diabetes Center. In addition, Susan serves on the Advisory Board for MATCH (Children's Mental Health) Program. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (nursing honor society). In 2003, Susan received the Women and Children's Alliance Tribute to Women in Industry Award. |
