Experience:
Stuart Pickford handles a range of claims concerning the supply of goods/services, professional negligence, business interruption, fatal accident and substantial fire, explosion and other property damage claims. His work frequently involves liaising with overseas lawyers, forensic accountants and other expert disciplines. He has particular interest in derivative claims against directors.
He has experience of a range of insurance matters, arising from notifications under various classes of insurance business, including political risk and trade credit.
He also provides litigation input on tax disputes with the UK tax authorities, notably claims before the VAT and Duties Tribunal and the High Court respectively, focusing in particular on strategic and procedural aspects.
He has particular experience advising clients involved in the logistics industry and associated business sectors, including handling disputes concerning loss of or damage to stock, the effect of seasonality and other quantum issues, open book and closed book logistics contracts, warehouse management systems, pallet management and other contractual disputes. He has also advised clients in the utilities, telecoms and construction industries (including six months seconded to the in-house legal department of an industrial manufacturing client).

Advising with respect to substantial fire claims involving various industrial and retail premises and related insurance issues.

Acting for utility distributors on substantial property damage and supply interruption claims and advising on issues concerning the relevant duties and the recoverability of particular categories of loss.
