Stuart has over 18 years of experience in a wide range of financial advisory roles including turnaround and crisis manager merger and acquisition advisor and interim chief financial officer (CFO). He has served as principal financial officer of several small- to mid-sized companies including publicly held companies with an emphasis on services distribution telecommunications and technology businesses.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron Stuart co-founded a turnaround consulting and interim financial management firm serving middle market companies. Among his many assignments he has served as interim CFO restructuring advisor financial advisor to state court receivers and a designated expert witness in bankruptcy court.
Stuart has extensive experience in operating and growing early stage and middle market companies including distressed businesses. His experience in industry includes:
CFO of a publicly traded provider of outsourced managed computer services overseeing all financial matters including strategic planning SEC compliance cash management investor relations risk management and tax matters. Integral in the company's $100 M initial public offering several private equity raises and over $35 M in capital lease financing.
CFO of a publicly traded aviation services company managing SEC compliance cash management investor relations and developing accounting systems and controls.
o Controller of a business forms management and distribution company integrating 15 acquisitions of branch locations into the existing business. Negotiated settlements with state sales taxing authorities saving over $8 M in penalties.
Co-founder of an educational technology and software company focused on delivering curriculum and educational content to K-12 schools via the Internet.
Stuart began his career in public accounting at Price Waterhouse LLP initially in the auditing practice and then moved to the consulting area with a focus on bankruptcy/restructuring and litigation support.
