Steven Proeschel is a managing director in the public finance group at Piper Jaffray. For 15 years, he has worked exclusively in health care finance with a full range of health care providers, including health care systems and physicians clinics. He has completed more than 100 health care financings as senior banker throughout the United States and has advised some of the region’s largest health care systems on mergers, acquisitions and strategic capital plans. Proeschel has experience with a broad array of financing structures, including variable rate debt, auction rate securities and interest rate caps, swaps and hedging vehicles.
Prior to joining Piper Jaffray, Proeschel was an assistant to the mayor of St. Paul, Minn. where he represented the City of St. Paul before the Minnesota Legislature and United States Congress. He served as chief aide on a national commission recommending public finance reforms to congress. In addition, he has served as a commissioner for the Community Health Services Advisory Commission.
Proeschel currently serves as chair of the finance committee and member of the board of directors for Minnesota Landmark, a historic preservation and community programming non-profit, and has also been a member of the board of directors for the Twin Cities Marathon. He is a frequent lecturer on health care finance issues and a member of Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Proeschel graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in political science from Hamline University and earned a Master of Business Administration degree in public administration from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. |
