Steven Andrés (CISSP, CISA) is the Chief Technology Officer and founder of Special Ops Security. He is the author of Security Sage's Guide to Hardening the Network Infrastructure and contributed to Hacking Exposed: Fourth Edition as well as SPECIAL OPS: Host and Network Security. Before founding Special Ops Security, Andrés was the Director of Technical Operations for Foundstone, a vulnerability management and strategic security company acquired by McAfee in 2004, where he created the award-winning Foundstone FS1000 Appliance, a widely-recognized security platform for rapid-deployment of security management solutions at dozens of Fortune 100 clients. Andrés was responsible for the infrastructure and confidentiality of sensitive customer vulnerability data within the Foundstone On-Demand Service. More recently, he has designed customized vulnerability assessment systems for the largest global ISP and led the product integration team to tie real-world digital risk to back-end enterprise systems. Andrés has earned the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP 38627) designation as well as associated specializations in Architecture (ISSAP) and Management (ISSMP). His vendor-specific certifications include the Cisco Certified Network Professional, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Cisco Certified Security Professional, and Checkpoint Certified Security Engineer. In 2001, Andrés was awarded the INFOSEC Professional designation, jointly- issued by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS). Additionally, the Information Assurance Technology Analysis Center (IATAC), chartered by the Department of Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) in Directive 3200.12, lists Andrés as one of their subject-matter experts in the field of Information Security, and has called upon him to assist in classified STI projects for various agencies. Andrés earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business and in Economics with a specialization in Computing from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and is actively pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Homeland Security from San Diego State University (SDSU). Andrés has a decade of experience managing high-availability networks in the Entertainment, Health Care, Financial, and Higher Education industries, and is frequently invited to speak on secure architecture best practices. |
