Holds Michigan records in each of those categories as well as kickoff returns (77), yards (1,993), and punt return touchdowns (4, tied with Derrick Alexander).

In the 48 games he appeared at Michigan, Breaston touched the ball 406 times racking up 5,609 all-purpose yards, an average of 116.9 yards per game.

His 156 career receptions rank fifth on the Wolverines all-time list.

Was a teammate of both Cardinals defensive tackle Gabe Watson and 2007 second-round draft pick (33rd overall) Alan Branch.

College Career:

The Big Ten’s all-time leader in punt returns (127) and punt return yards (1,599), Breaston appeared in 48 games for the Wolverines with 25 starts. A multi-purpose threat, he scored on kickoff returns (1), punt returns (4), as a receiver (10) and running the ball (2), while amassing 5,609 all-purpose yards during his career.

2006: An all-Big Ten Conference first-team selection as an all-purpose back by The NFL Draft Report, Breaston ranked third in the conference in punt returns (29 for 3,332 yards--11.4-yard avg., TD) and third in kickoff returns (21 for 467 yards--22.2-yard avg.) ranked sixth in the Big Ten with 1,548 all-purpose yards, an average of 119.1 yards per game started 12 of 13 games at split end led the team with a career-high 58 receptions for 670 yards (11.6 avg) and two touchdowns totaled 20 plays of at least 20 yards during the season (6 punt returns, 9 kickoff returns, 1 rushing and 4 receiving).

2005: Recipient of the U-M Athletic Academic Achievement Award while also being named Big Ten Conference co-Special Teams Player of the Week vs. both Penn State and Indiana and the ABC-Sports Player of the Game vs. Iowa became first player in U-M history to gain 1,000 return yards (1,002) in a season and finished third on the team with 26 reception for 291 yards (11.2 avg) and two touchdowns, adding 101 yards on 10 carries (10.1 avg) returned 29 punts for 356 yards, as his 12.3-yard average ranked second in the Big Ten, while also ranking third in the conference with 646 yards and a score on 23 kickoff returns (28.1 avg.) gained 1,394 all-purpose yards, an average of 126.7 yards per game had three 200-yard all-purpose yardage games and six 100-yard efforts also producing 21 plays that gained at least 20 yards each.

2004: Played in 11 games, finishing third on the team with 34 receptions for 291 yards (8.6 avg.) and three touchdowns gained 292 yards with one touchdown on 24 punt returns, ranking third in the Big Ten Conference with a 12.3-yard average added 689 yards on 28 kickoff returns (24.6 avg.), both good for school season-records amassed 1,348 all-purpose yards, an average of 122.5 yards per game, while leading the team with 25 plays of 20 yards or more.

2003: Earned Big Ten Conference co-Freshman of the Year honors from the league’s coaches, Scripps / Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-American selection as a receiver, Sports Illustrated All-American honorable mention as a return specialist and was a member of College Football News’ Freshman All-American second-team ... saw action in 13 games, and ranked third in the Big Ten with 13.8 yards per punt return as he set Michigan season records in punt returns (45) and yards (619) ... scored two touchdowns on punt returns, ranked second on the team in receiving touchdowns (three), third in receiving yards (444) and fourth in receptions (38), averaging 11.7 yards per catch completed his only pass attempt for a 36-yard touchdown and recorded two solo tackles while amassing 1,319 all-purpose yards, an average of 101.4 yards per game ... led the team with 22 plays of 20 yards or more.

2002: Redshirted as he spent the season performing as a receiver on the scout team after playing quarterback in high school.

Personal:

Full name Steven William Breaston attended Woodland Hills (North Braddock, PA) High School where he lettered three times in football, leading the team to a 14-1 record and to a berth in the Pennsylvania 4-A state championship game helped Woodland Hills win the WPIAL Class AAAA title, gaining 219 yards on 15 carries during a 41-6 victory named the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year in 2001 selected as Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's co-Player of the Year (with quarterback Tyler Palko) gained 2,545 career rushing yards and 37 touchdowns as a quarterback as a senior, he carried 151 times for 1,718 yards (11.4 avg.) and 24 touchdowns, completed 33-of-79 passes for 600 yards and was involved in 34 scores overall, including 10 touchdown runs of more than 50 yards returned two punts for touchdowns in his senior season and accounted for more than 5,000 all-purpose yards during his last two seasons lettered twice in basketball and track, winning the district title in the 300-meter hurdles as a junior.
