Steven J. Maher is an audit partner in the Philadelphia office of Mitchell & Titus, a member firm of
Ernst & Young Global Limited. Steve is the firm's independence leader and a member of its Training Committee. He is a certified public accountant in Pennsylvania, New York, and various other states. Steve has over 22 years of experience, primarily with employee benefit plans and in the not-for-profit and public sectors.
Steve has significant experience with employee benefit plans, having worked on plans for several Fortune 1000 companies. His experience includes audits of defined benefit and defined contribution plans, as well as health and welfare plans. He has performed both limited and full-scope audits, including 11-K filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Steve also has experience providing audit and advisory services to major domestic and international manufacturing and distribution companies. Steve has provided a range of advisory services including accounting assistance related to inventory costing and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, his government and not-for-profit clients have included both large and mid-sized entities, many of which required single audit procedures.
Prior to joining Mitchell & Titus, Steve spent 16 years with Ernst & Young. There he was a lead member of the Philadelphia area Public Sector and Not-for-Profit Practice. In that role, he acted as a regional and national technical resource for government and not-for-profit accounting and auditing issues.
Steve has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame. He has coordinated and been a topical speaker for many not-for-profit seminars, and regularly attends other seminars and courses related to the public and not-for-profit sectors. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). |
