Steven H. Lesnik is the founder, chairman and principal stockholder of KemperSports and its affiliate KemperLesnik Communications. Mr. Lesnik originated the idea for KemperSports Management in 1978 when it was established by Kemper Corporation, then headed by James S. Kemper, Jr. Mr. Lesnik and Mr. Kemper bought the company in 1983 following Mr. Kemper's retirement from the insurance and financial organization. Today KemperSports is one of the largest developer/owner/operators of golf properties in America, and is privately held by the Lesnik family.
Mr. Lesnik founded Lesnik Public Relations in 1979 and is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America. KemperLesnik Communications is a multi-functional communications firm specializing in public relations, public affairs, sports marketing and event management. It is ranked among the largest specialty communications agencies based in the Midwest. Mr. Lesnik and his wife, Mady, who has worked at the firm since its inception, own the agency along with their partners.
A graduate of Brown University, Mr. Lesnik was a founder of The First Tee of Chicago, a local chapter organization he helped create to provide funding and operate affordable and accessible golf facilities and learning programs for young people. Mr. Lesnik is a National Trustee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Honorary Member of the Illinois PGA. He recently retired as Chairman of the Illinois Board of Higher Education, which oversees the State's public colleges and universities with a four billion dollar budget. Mr. Lesnik is currently ranked "fourth among the most powerful people in golf" by Golf, Inc. magazine.
