Prior to joining CWT, Mr. Carlson had been a financial and restructuring consultant for clients including United Air Lines, Inc. and Dynegy Inc. At United Air Lines, where he worked from 2002 through 2004, Mr. Carlson led the Section 1110 aircraft restructuring team of over 30 professionals in the largest Chapter 11 fleet restructuring in history. Mr. Carlson developed and implemented strategies to reduce fleet costs and refinance debt on the initial 567 plane fleet.
Most recently, Mr. Carlson was President and Chief Financial Officer of Texaco Refining and Marketing Inc. For twenty years prior to this, from 1981 to 2001, Mr. Carlson was with Texaco Inc., where he served in numerous positions of increasing responsibility with various departments. Upon Texaco’s merger with Chevron Corporation in 2001, Mr. Carlson left Texaco to serve as President and Chief Financial Officer at Texaco Refining and Marketing Inc. (TRMI), which Chevron had divested upon the merger. Subsequently, he led the structuring and negotiation process to sell TRMI, completing a $3.8 billion divestiture. While at Texaco, Mr. Carlson’s latest positions were: Deputy Comptroller, where he was responsible for consolidation and internal and external reporting of worldwide financial and operating results, accounting policy and internal controls; Assistant General Manager in Texaco’s Merger & Acquisition Group, where he led and participated on negotiating teams and provided advice and analysis on structuring, developing, negotiating, financing and closing major corporate transactions; and Assistant Treasurer, International Finance and Corporate Credit in the Finance Department, where he was responsible for all treasury activities of international subsidiaries and affiliates, including capital structure, cash and currency management, credit and financial management, worldwide project and structured finance, and global corporate credit. Prior to this, Mr. Carlson served in various finance positions, including Manager, Financial Services at Texaco’s largest international subsidiary in the United Kingdom, and Finance Manager of Texaco Oil Trading and Supply.
