Mr. Michalek was born and raised in Iowa. He earned his B.A.degree, with honors, from the University of Iowa in 1989. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Michalek attended Cambridge University and the London School of Economics in England. In 1992, Mr. Michalek earned his J.D. degree, with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law. In 1992, Mr. Michalek joined a law firm in Iowa City, Iowa where he practiced in the area of health care litigation. In 1997, Mr. Michalek relocated to Denver, and joined Kennedy Childs and Fogg, P.C. Mr. Michalek became a shareholder at the firm in 2001. In 2003, he was elected to the firm’s board of directors. Mr. Michalek’s law practice primarily consists of representing health care providers in professional liability, licensing board, credentialing and risk management matters. He spends a considerable portion of time working on legislative issues affecting health care providers. He is also a frequent speaker on health care liability issues. Mr. Michalek was President of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA) from 2003-04. Mr. Michalek is a member of the Denver Bar Association’s Professionalism Committee and a member of the Colorado Bar Association’s Interprofessional Committee. Mr. Michalek also served as one of the Denver Bar Association Representatives on the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association from 2005-07. From 2006-07, Mr. Michalek served as President of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Colorado. Mr. Michalek is an AV Peer review rated lawyer by Martindale- Hubbell. In 2004, Mr. Michalek was awarded the DRI exceptional Performance Citation and since 2005, Mr. Michalek has been a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation. |
