Steve Swanson, President and Chief Executive Officer, is also one of the founding members of Automated Trading Desk, LLC (ATD), the pioneer of automated limit-order technology. As President and CEO, he focuses on leading operations and developing and maintaining groundbreaking trading models and services. Swanson's extensive programming and financial knowledge complements ATD's unique and innovative corporate culture: a combination of visionary technology and trading expertise. Swanson's skills and interests in technology and the financial markets have been instrumental in creating the ATD formula for success. His contributions to ATD include the creation and improvement of highly profitable computer trading and pricing prediction models as well as the development of a unique research and development culture. Under his leadership, ATD reached a milestone of handling over 400-million-shares in one day, and in 2006 ATD accounted for approximately 6% of all NYSE volume and 6% of all NASDAQ volume. Currently, Swanson serves as Vice-President on the College of Charleston Foundation Board, the Board of the School of Business and Economics at the College of Charleston, the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness, the South Carolina Venture Capital Authority Board of Directors, the SIFMA Trading Committee, and is Chairman of the NASDAQ Quality of Markets Committee (QMC). With personal interests that mirror his dedication and discipline, he practices and teaches Tae Kwon Do, holding a fifth degree black belt. Swanson earned his Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the College of Charleston, graduating cum laude from the Honors Program. |
