Why @ eBags: After 11 years in the convenience store industry on the East Coast, I decided it was time for a complete lifestyle make-over. Without question, the move was to Colorado, with all the outdoor activity the state has to offer. And without question, the job was with eBags, providing me with the unique and exciting challenge of building an accounting system from ground up in one of today's most dynamic industries.
Favorite Childhood Trip: I can only narrow that down to every summer between the ages of 2 through 9. My family lived in Istanbul, Turkey, where my father taught at an American college. During the summers, we would load the car and sightsee through every country in Europe for months at a time. We also hit Russia and Egypt. There are too many memories to isolate any one favorite.
Other Great Trips: Two years ago, my wife and I road our bikes across the state of Oregon on a tour called, of all things, "Cycle Oregon." We were among the 2,000 other cyclists riding, eating and camping for seven days, the longest of which was 100 miles. The ride was fully supported so you could focus on the riding. It's a good thing, because the longest we had ever ridden in one day was 50 miles. It was quite the challenge but ever so fulfilling to complete with relative ease. This trip was the inspiration for our big move westward.
Favorite City: If you're searching for the quintessential, old world, rolling hill, farming village nestled among the Alps, I recommend Appenzel, Switzerland. My wife and I discovered this one during one of our many excursions on the lesser-traveled roads of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
