Mr. Levitan has a wide range of experience in structuring highly complex securitization transactions backed by collateral encompassing a broad range of asset types, including, student loans, auto loans, Australian mortgage loans, automobile and equipment leases, credit card account receivables, residential mortgage loans, home equity loans, financed insurance premiums, residual interests in pre-existing special purpose entities, and the resecuritization of previously issued asset- and mortgage-backed securities. In these transactions he has represented both issuers and underwriters in public offerings, private placements, direct-lending financings, off-shore transactions and asset-backed commercial paper offerings. His clients have ranged from the country’s leading investment banks, commercial banks and Fortune 500 companies to boutique finance lenders.
Mr. Levitan has been named a leading practitioner in the field of securitization by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. He regularly speaks at national conferences on topics regarding student loans and cross-border securitizations.
At the University of Chicago Law School, Mr. Levitan was the managing editor of The Legal Forum and co-founder/chairman of the University Student Credit Union. He also holds a CPA Certificate from the State of Illinois.
