Stephen Bonner is Global Head of Information Risk Management for Investment Banking at Barclays Capital. Working within a dedicated, close-knit team, Bonner is responsible for delivering a co-operative and risk-based service that puts Barclays Capital at exactly the right place on the risk/reward curve.Bonner has over 14 years of information risk experience, is an acknowledged expert in the field of computer security, speaking at many national and international conferences. After graduating from Warwick University, Stephen started his career in the Maths Department of Oxford University, moving to UKERNA to help run the UK academic Internet. Going commercial, he worked for Richard Branson as Operations Manager of Virgin Net growing it to 100,000 customers in its first year of operation. A departure into Investment Banking followed with time as a contractor at various investment banks including ING Barings and Barclays Capital in the late 90's. Before his move full time to his current investment bank two years ago he worked at LIFFE protecting transactions worth $12 trillion per month. He was founder and chair for the first year of the UK ISS user group and a previous secretary of the London Investment Banking Special Interest Group on Information Security. Bonner is the recipient of Information Security Magazine's annual 2006 Security Seven award, presented to individuals who have succeeded in guiding large security operations toward unification while keeping some of the world's largest and most sensitive networks safe from harm.
