Stephen Bird is Chief Executive Officer of Citi’s Global Consumer Group in Asia Pacific and serves on both Citi’s Operating and Management Committees. His responsibilities include all Retail Banking Credit Card and Consumer Finance businesses in Asia Pacific region. The region spans 12 countries from Korea in the north to Australia in the south and includes both India and China. Citi in Asia serves over 14 million customers with a broad array of financial services products through a diverse distribution network including more than 650 branches. Citi has the leading pan-Asia Retail Banking franchise and is the leading Credit Card issuer with the number one or two market position in eight of the 12 markets. Citibank’s 30 000 employees in the region are proud to continue a rich legacy in Asia stretching back more than 100 years.
Stephen was most recently CEO of Credit Cards and Consumer Finance in Japan and previously Head of Operations & Technology for Citigroup Latin America covering all businesses in the region: Corporate and Consumer Banking Retirement Services and Consumer Finance. Prior to moving to Latin America in 2001 Stephen was the head of Operations & Technology for Citibank - Asia Pacific based in Singapore. Before joining Citi in 1998 Stephen was Operations Director for GE Capital in the UK.
Stephen was born in Scotland United Kingdom and is a graduate of University College Cardiff (MBA Economics & Finance).
