Dr. Stephen S. Cohen is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Natural Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NPI).
Dr. Cohen is a Professor at the University of California at Berkeley where he is also co-director, and co-founder of the Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy (BRIE). BRIE is an internationally recognized source of new ideas and information on advanced technology, international competition and economic competitiveness.
Professor Cohen's books include: The New Global Economy in the Information Age (with Fernando Henrique Cardoso, et.al.); Manufacturing Matters; Reading Our Times (with Peter Drucker, and J.K. Galbraith); Modern Capitalist Planning; The Tunnel at the End of the Light: Privatization in Russia; and Corporate Governance and Globalization. His articles have appeared in such diverse publications as SCIENCE, Foreign Affairs, the Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, The American Economic Review, Revue de l"Economie Industrielle, IEEE Spectrum, Technology Review, Les Temps Modernes, Le Monde, El Pais, The California Management Review.
Cohen has served as advisor to the White House, several committees of the US Congress, the governments of France, Spain, China, and Colombia, the UN and the OECD as well as many companies in the U.S., Japan, and Europe. He is currently serving as a Board member for The American University in Paris, and the Bay Area World Trade Center. He is a frequent speaker at company and industry meetings as well as a frequent "talking head" in the media.
He did his BA at Williams College and his Ph.D. at the London School of Economics. He has been a member of the Berkeley faculty since 1968. Cohen has been honored with the Medal of Paris and visiting Fellowships and Professorships at MIT, Harvard, NYU, Universita Cattolica, the University of Toronto and the Sorbonne. |
