Stephen S. Rasmussen is president and chief operating officer of property and casualty operations for Nationwide, one of the largest diversified insurance and financial services companies in the world. He was elected to this position in 2003.
He is responsible for the operations of Nationwide Insurance, Allied Insurance, Nationwide Agribusiness and Specialty Products.
He previously served as president and chief operating officer of Allied Insurance and held the same positions with CalFarm Insurance, an affiliated company. Prior to that, Rasmussen served as Allied’s executive vice president for product management, vice president for underwriting and regional vice president for the Pacific Coast Regional Office. He joined Allied in 1974.
Rasmussen serves on the boards of the National Urban League, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority, and the Columbus Metropolitan Library. He also previously served as a trustee for Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, and as co-chair for the United Way of Central Ohio Alexis de Tocqueville Vingt-Cinq Society campaign.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.
