Work Experience
Stephen R. Wood joined Sierra Pacific Resources in July of 2004. Before moving to Las Vegas, he was co-founder and president of three private equity companies in Louisville, Kentucky. He was previously President of the Louisville Gas and Electric Company (LG&E), President of Distribution Services at LG&E Energy Corp. and Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of LG&E Energy Corp. Earlier in his career he held senior positions in human resources and in customer service with Memorex Telex Corporation, and Ford Motor Company. His experience includes 16 years in the energy business and 36 years in operational and administrative management. Wood is a Vietnam veteran and former Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Education
Wood holds an MBA from the University of Detroit and a BS in Industrial Management from Purdue University. He received additional executive education at Columbia University.
Organizations
Wood currently serves on the Board of Trustees, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce; Board of Directors, Martin Engineering (IL); and the Krannert School Dean's Advisory Council, Purdue University. Previously he served on the Board of Directors at Fifth Third Bank of Kentucky, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kentucky, the National Association of Manufacturers, the Kentucky Museum of Art & Design, and the Louisville Chamber of Commerce.
He was also Chairman of the Board of the Louisville Urban League, Chairman of the Board of WKPC-TV, Chairman of the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky, and Campaign Chairman of the Louisville Fund for the Arts.
