Stephen R. Thomas joined the firm in 1980 after working in New York City at Baker & McKenzie, one of the largest international law firms. In his years with our firm, Mr. Thomas has established an active practice in litigation and legislative advocacy. He handles cases in the areas of commercial litigation, products liability, securities and insurance coverage. As a legislative advocate, Mr. Thomas represents clients in the timber, oil and gas, railroad, and soft drink industries. Mr. Thomas is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell.Mr. Thomas earned his A.B. degree from Yale College in 1975. He received his Juris Doctor from Columbia University in 1978. In 1987, he graduated from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and in 1991 he attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, earning an E.T.L.M. certificate. Mr. Thomas is admitted to practice in state trial and appellate courts for New York and Idaho. He is admitted to the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits, as well as the U. S. Supreme Court.As a member of the Idaho State Bar, Mr. Thomas holds membership in the Litigation Section, the Environment and Natural Resources Section, the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section and the Business and Corporate Law Section. He is a member of the American Bar Association and is a member of the following sections: Litigation, Tort Trial and Insurance Practice, and Environmental Energy and Resources. Mr. Thomas is also a member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and Idaho Association of Defense Counsel.Mr. Thomas is an author of the 50 State Handbook on Lobbying, PACs and Campaign Finance compiled by the State Capital Global Law Firm Group, which is published by Thomson West.In the Boise community, Mr. Thomas is director and past chairman of the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, director of Associated Taxpayers of Idaho, Inc., and a member of the Boise Rotary Club. He serves as a director of the Ore-Ida Council, Boy Scouts of America. |
