Chief Executive Officer since November 10, 2003. Prior to this Mr. Carter served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cingular Wireless, a provider of wireless services. Prior thereto, Mr. Carter served in various positions with SBC Communications (now AT&T Inc.) and its predecessor company, Southwestern Bell, including President and Chief Executive Officer of SBC Wireless, President of SBC Strategic and Special Markets and President/Chief Executive Officer of Southwestern Bell Telecom. His early career was spent in consumer electronics with Sony in the United Kingdom. Mr. Carter also serves on the board of directors of The Corporate Executive Board Company, a leading provider of best practices research and analysis focusing on corporate strategy, operations and general management issues. |
