Stephen J. Orens practices in the area of zoning, municipal law, litigation and land use regulation. He appears regularly before planning and zoning authorities and represents clients in court in municipal and land use related litigation. Formerly a principal of the law firm of DuFour & Orens Chartered, Mr. Orens is a life Director of the Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association, and an active member of LANDS the Legal Action Network for Development Strategies. Steve is a member of the Board of Directors of the Maryland State Builders Association and is the Chair of the association’s State Legislative Committee. Steve is also General Counsel to the Greater Capital area Association of REALTORS® and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at the American University Washington College of Law. Prior to entering the private practice of law, Mr. Orens served as a Zoning Hearing Examiner for Montgomery County Maryland in the office now known as the Office of Zoning and Administrative Hearings. He also served Montgomery County as a Senior Assistant County Attorney.
