Stephen F. Brown is Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Tenet Healthcare Corporation.
Brown 50 is responsible for establishing the strategic direction and providing management leadership for Tenet’s information and telecommunication systems. He also is responsible for identifying high-value opportunities to advance the company’s business interests through the application of information technology. Brown has maintained Tenet’s comprehensive technology outsourcing relationship with Perot Systems Corporation since 1990. He reports to Trevor Fetter Tenet’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
Brown has served as CIO of Tenet since 1995. Prior to his position with Tenet he was CIO of American Medical International one of Tenet’s predecessor companies.
Brown who has over 25 years experience in health care has a bachelor of science degree from the University of Alabama.
He has been active in national information systems activities including faculty roles in conferences hosted by The Wharton School Information Week magazine CEO magazine The Healthcare Collaboration Group and Sheldon I. Dorenfest and Associates Consulting. He is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and was a contributing author to the 1992 book Financial Information Systems Manual.
