Senior Vice President Generation and Chief Nuclear Officer-South Carolina Electric & Gas Company Stephen A. Byrne, 46, is a graduate of Wayne State University with a degreein Chemical Engineering. He joined South Carolina Electric & Gas Company as General Manager, Nuclear Plant Operations for the V. C. Summer Nuclear Station in 1995 and served as Vice President of Nuclear Operations from 2000 to 2004. Byrne has over 20 years experience in the nuclear industry, including 12 years at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Ohio, where he received an NRC Senior Reactor Operator’s License.Byrne currently serves as president of the Carolinas Virginia Nuclear Power Associates, Inc. (CVNPA) Decommissioning Project. In addition, he serves on the South Carolina Governor's Nuclear Advisory Council, the University of South Carolina Nuclear Engineering Advisory Board, the Westinghouse Quality Fuels Council, United Way of the Midlands Food,
Shelter, Security & Transportation (FSST) Community Care Council. Byrne has previously served as president of the Fairfield County (SC) Chamber of Commerce. |
