Stephanie Grana is a director with Cantor Arkema who specializes in plaintiffs’ medical malpractice and complex personal injury. Since 1994, Stephanie has handled a wide array of medical malpractice cases, involving physicians, hospitals, nurses, nursing homes and other health care professionals. She is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Virginia. Stephanie received her undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude, in 1990 and obtained her law degree from the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law, Cum Laude, in 1993. Following a clerkship with the Honorable Joseph E. Baker, Judge, of the Court of Appeals of Virginia, in Norfolk, she joined the law firm of Taylor & Schockemoehl. While there, she worked with Ed Taylor, a pioneer in the field of medical malpractice in Virginia, and practiced exclusively plaintiffs’ medical malpractice and products liability. Ms. Grana continued to practice in the areas of plaintiffs’ medical malpractice and personal injury while a partner in Bemberis & Grana and with the law firm of Shuford, Rubin & Gibney, P.C. In addition to her litigation practice, Stephanie is active in various bar and professional organizations. She is the President of the Metropolitan Richmond Women’s Bar Association. Within this organization, she has served as President-Elect, Secretary, Chair of the Awards Committee, Public Relations Director and Newsletter Editor and a member of the Continuing Legal Education committee. As a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers’ Association, Stephanie has served on the Board of Governors since 1998. She is currently a member of the Convention Committee. Stephanie is a former Young Trial Lawyers President and her YTL committee involvement includes key contacts, membership, convention and legislative. Since 1995, she has been a member of the John Marshall American Inn of Court and currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the newly chartered Lewis F. Powell, Jr. American Inn of Court. Stephanie is the past-president of the Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Association and has been a member since 1994. Her other associations include the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Virginia State Bar: Health Law Section, Chesterfield Colonial Heights Bar Association and the Richmond Bar Association. Stephanie is also active in synchronized swimming and has assisted at the age-group and collegiate level through volunteer coaching and judging. She is a certified Level IV Judge and volunteers her time at various meets throughout the Commonwealth. Still competing, Stephanie is a member of the Octopi of Richmond Masters Synchronized Swimming Program and participates yearly in the National Masters Competition held at various sites throughout the country. When not practicing law or serving the community, Stephanie is busy raising her three young children.
