Stan Gordon is a co-founder of Cortex Medical Management Systems, Inc. and has served as president of the company since it was created in 1983. One of a very few people to graduate from college as an officially-degreed "debugger," Stan has been immersed in health data, medical records and technology systems for his entire career.
Stan has keen passion for contributing to people's health and for creating long-term business relationships. Consequently, his work at Cortex has resulted in a company that is aware of, and highly responsive to, client needs, diversity in its employee base, as well as emerging technologies.
Stan oversees marketing, sales support and contracts for Cortex's anatomical pathology and billing software systems; Cortex systems have been installed in more than 100 pathology laboratories across the country and two overseas.
Prior to founding Cortex, Stan was the manager of Strategic Information Systems Planning at Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound where he developed the strategic information systems plan and corporate dictionary. He drove the procurement and installation of a clinical laboratory system for 22 clinical laboratories and during his tenure was recognized as the "Outstanding Advocate for Operations" by the organization's chief executive.
Prior to Group Health, two start-up companies - both of which experienced explosive growth during his tenure - employed Stan. At HBO & Company (HBOC), he was the twenty-ninth employee in a staff that subsequently grew to thousands of employees. As one of the earliest employees of McAuto's Health Care Services Division, Stan was project manager for the Medical Records Statistical System (MRII), and a systems analyst for on-line radiology and pharmacy systems.
In addition to being a technology instructor at the college level in the Seattle area, Stan has also been a guest lecturer at numerous health care related trade shows and national conferences. He has also published a number of articles on computers in healthcare.
Stan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in entomology from the University of Kentucky. He loves healthcare and technology because they are both "ever-changing and growing." He is an avid world traveler and automobile driver who previously served as regional director of the Pacific Northwest Ferrari Club. |
