Biography
Stacy Russell attended The University of Texas at Austin where she received her bachelor of arts in 1991. She graduated from the University of Houston Law Center, with honors, in 1997 where she also was an editor of the Houston Journal of International Law. Ms. Russell is of counsel in the firm's litigation practice.
Ms. Russell's practice focuses on all aspects of litigation. She has significant experience in the areas of complex commercial litigation, white collar crime and corporate internal investigations, corporate governance, securities litigation, tax controversy and litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and energy litigation.

Significant Matters
Analysis of Securities and ERISA Settlements: Represented a corporation in fulfillment of its duties under ERISA to analyze (1) the $460 million settlement in the sixth largest securities fraud class action settlement; and (2) the $90 million settlement in the second largest ERISA class action settlement.
Energy Litigation and Reorganization: Represented a corporation in complex litigation arising out of the California energy crisis, including, but not limited to, the trial work seeking to confirm a utility company's plan of reorganization. Counsel for federal court litigation in a Section 17200 case in California federal court through the Ninth Circuit.
Internal Investigations: Performed internal investigations of (1) a private company based in the Houston area with $2 billion per year in revenue; and (2) a public company with offices and branches in over twenty states.
Securities Litigation: Represented individuals in all facets of their civil litigation arising from their ownership in and connection with a telecommunications company, including over sixty securities fraud lawsuits, RICO lawsuits, and major adversary proceedings in multiple bankruptcy courts.
Tax Dispute Litigation: Represented a bank and several of its affiliates in approximately twenty cases on file in Texas and the Fifth Circuit. These lawsuits claimed damages arising from tax and financial transactions.
Construction Litigation: Represented a company to a three person arbitration panel in April 2004, receiving a judgment of more than $4 million, including attorney's fees. The defendant's counterclaims of more than $5.8 million were dismissed in their entirety and its counsel received no recovery of attorney's fees.
Commercial Litigation: Represented a bank in San Antonio Federal Court in a lawsuit arising from the infamous Inverworld ponzi scheme. In this lawsuit, plaintiffs claimed the bank was liable for over $125 million in damages arising under numerous causes of action, including fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of trust, and aiding and abetting. This matter settled for essentially litigation costs.
Employment Litigation: Represented several companies in covenant not to compete litigation.
Contract and Tort Litigation: Represented numerous companies in state and federal courts across the nation in contract and tort litigation.
