Stacy is a Director in the Litigation section of Coats Rose. Prior to law school, she worked in the office of the Governor of Maryland, guiding a Regional Partnership dealing with all aspects of the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay, its estuaries, and plant and animal life. She was also a recipient of the Maryland Governor's Policy Fellowship. In addition, Stacy was chosen to work under a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regarding the Galveston Bay Estuary Program. In that capacity she analyzed the work of multiple governmental bodies with jurisdiction over the Estuary and their varied laws, regulations and ordinances.
While pursuing her law degree at Texas Tech University, Stacy was an Associate Editor of the Law Review and maintained her Regent's Scholarship all three years.
Practice Emphasis
Stacy's practice focuses on environmental regulatory matters and toxic tort defense, as well as counseling on insurance coverage matters and litigating such cases. She has served with James M. Riley, Jr. since 2000 as National Coordinating Counsel for a chemical manufacturing company. In this position, Stacy manages state and federal benzene litigation in over 26 states, while maintaining direct control over her Texas docket. She has played an integral role in two landmark benzene cases resulting in take-nothing judgments.
Stacy's work also includes Texas wrongful death, asbestos, and silica litigation. She has used her considerable experience in government to assist clients in groundwater contamination matters, water rights disputes and Super Fund matters.
