Stacey J. Mobley is senior vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel of DuPont, a global science company, and a member of the company's Office of the Chief Executive. He has been with DuPont for 35 years and has senior management responsibility for legal and governmental affairs. As a member of the Office of the Chief Executive, he has responsibility for strategic direction and operations of all the company's businesses.
Mr. Mobley, an attorney, joined the DuPont Legal Department in 1972. He was named director of Federal Affairs in the company's Washington, D.C., office in 1983 and promoted to vice president - Federal Affairs in 1986. He returned to the company's Wilmington, Del., headquarters in March 1992 as vice president - communications in External Affairs and was promoted to senior vice president in May 1992. He was named chief administrative officer in May 1999, and general counsel in November 1999.
Mr. Mobley is a member of the board of directors of the Wilmington Trust Company, a financial services holding company headquartered in Wilmington, Del. He is also on the Board of Trustees of Howard University.
Mr. Mobley received the LexisNexis Corporate Legal Times Distinguished Legal Service Award and the Howard University Alumni Award for Distinguished Postgraduate Achievement in the field of law in 2002. He was the 2003 corporate campaign chairman for the NAACP, and was named one of America's top black lawyers by Black Enterprise Magazine.
In June 2006, the National Law Journal named him one of the nation's 100 most influential lawyers. In October 2006, the American Civil Liberties Union of Delaware awarded Mr. Mobley the Gerald Kandler Award for outstanding leadership in the cause of civil liberties in Delaware. Mr. Mobley received the Association of Corporate Counsel Award for Excellence in Corporate Practice. Also in October 2006, Mr. Mobley was named to the Law Dragon's list of 500 leading lawyers. In June 2007, he received an Appleseed award for commitment for promoting pro bono and diversity in the workplace.
Mr. Mobley is also active in community charitable and philanthropic organizations in the Delaware Valley and in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Wilmington Club in Wilmington, Del., and the Carlton Club in Washington, D.C. He is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
Born in Chester, Pa., he received his bachelor of science degree in 1968 from the Howard University School of Pharmacy and received his J.D. degree from Howard University School of Law in 1971. He is a registered pharmacist and a member of the Pennsylvania, District of Columbia and U.S. Supreme Court bars. |
