Spencer joined General American Investors Company Inc. in 1994 as a Senior Investment Counselor and was elected to his current positions in August of 1995 and named a Director of the Company in September 1995.
Spencer began his Wall Street career at Brown Brothers Harriman in 1966. He worked at Beck Mack & Oliver (1972-86) where he became a General Partner and at Odyssey Partners (1986-89) where he served as a Fund Manager. He has served as a Director of Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation Phoenix Arizona since 1999. Spencer’s eleemosynary interests include the Innisfree Foundation Inc. Millbrook New York for which he has served as a Trustee since 1986 and the Neuroscience Research Foundation Inc. San Diego California for which he has served as a Trustee since 1992. Spencer is a graduate of City College and received his M.B.A. degree in Finance from Columbia University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Investment Counselor. |
