Silvano Cassano, managing director of Benetton Group since May 2003, comes from the Fiat Group, where he was in charge of the Fiat Auto financial services department.
Born in 1956 in Ferrara, Cassano completed his studies in England and then, in 1978, joined Hertz, where he took on increasingly responsible assignments: first as sales manager for Northern Italy, then as international sales and marketing manager at the parent company's offices in New York, marketing manager in the European headquarters in London and finally, in 1986, sales and marketing manager of the Italian subsidiary.
From 1987 to 1990 he gained further experience in two areas, first as financial services manager for American Express, then as managing director of Dial Italia, a company owned by Barclays Bank.
In 1990 he returned to the Hertz Group as managing director and general manager of the Italian subsidiary then, in 1998, was appointed head of the European rent-a-car business, with headquarters in London.
In 2000 he joined the Fiat Group, taking charge of the financial and customer services department of Fiat Auto. From February 2002 he headed the Fiat Auto Customer Service Business Unit. |
