Dr. Sidney Bourne, Founder & Chief Scientist developed the first GC-IR product to supplant the gas phase ‘light-pipe’ instruments while at Argonne National Lab. Dr. Bourne moved with the product to Mattson Instruments where the ‘Cryolet’ generated sales nearly $10 million in 3 years. He then spent the next 5 years at Bio-Rad in Cambridge where he developed the next generation system called the ‘Tracer’, which generated nearly $8 million sales in 2 years. In 1993 he founded Bourne Scientific, Inc. to develop the current product called ‘The Detective’. Dr. Bourne has written and co-authored over 25 technical papers for scientific journals and conferences. Dr. Bourne earned his BS in Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the University of Minnesota. |
