As chairman and chief executive officer, Shivan S. Subramaniam is responsible for strategic and operational direction at FM Global, the world's leading commercial and industrial property insurer.
Subramaniam's career spans nearly 30 years in the insurance industry. Named chairman in 2002, he was elected president and CEO in 1999. Prior to that, he was chairman and CEO at Allendale Insurance, a predecessor company of FM Global. Elected president of Allendale in 1992, he held a number of senior-level positions in finance and management after joining the company in 1974.
Subramaniam received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani, India, and has since earned two master's degrees-one in operations research from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, N.Y., USA, and another in management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Mass., USA. |
