Shirley M. Payne is Vice President – Accounting and Controller of the Northeast Utilities system (NU). She is the company’s Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for the system’s Corporate Accounting Budgeting
Corporate Taxes Financial Planning Internal and External Financial Reporting Payroll Plant and Accounts Payable functions. Payne joined NU in 2007. Prior to joining NU Payne was Vice President Corporate Accounting Chief Tax Officer and Chief Accounting Officer for TECO Energy Inc. located in Tampa Florida. Payne joined TECO’s tax group in 1990 and later assumed additional roles as Accounting Manager
TECO Power Services; Assistant Controller TECO Power Services and Vice President Corporate Tax for TECO Energy. Payne is an active participant on EEI accounting and tax committees including chair positions in the tax analysis and research committee and taxation committee. She has also served as the chair
of the University of South Florida’s School of Accountancy Advisor Council and chair of the Board
of Directors of the Center for Women in Tampa Florida.
Payne is a native of North Carolina. She holds a Masters of Accountancy and a BS in Accounting
from the University of South Florida. She is a member of the AICPA and FICPA. Payne resides in
South Glastonbury Connecticut with her husband Gary. She has two sons. |
