D. Sherwin Artus was appointed to the Board effective March 1, 2006 to fill the vacancy created when the Board expanded the number of authorized directors from six to seven effective March 1, 2006. Mr. Artus joined Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation in January 1989 as Vice President of Operations and became Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in July 1999. In January 2000, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer and a director. In January 2002, he became Senior Vice President. He has been in the oil and natural gas business for forty years. Mr. Artus holds a Bachelor’s Degree in geologic engineering and a Master’s Degree in mining engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. |
