Sherrelle Jiggitts Walker joined us as our Chief Education Officer in July 2002. She is responsible for expanding awareness among educators nationwide about how our products and services can help significantly improve student learning and achievement. She provides leadership in setting product and implementation strategy and evaluates potential partnerships and acquisitions. Prior to joining us, she served as vice president of curriculum for Pearson's NCS Learn business. Ms. Walker has more than 25 years of experience in education as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent. During her extensive career in education, Ms. Walker played a leading role in the development of the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements.
She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Washington, specializing in improving teacher impact in the classroom and throughout the school. She also established one of the nation's first Internet Academies for students, and has served on various boards in education, including the Executive Council of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
Ms. Walker has received numerous awards for her role in education and in the community, such as the NAACP Cultural Arts Award, the Jefferson Award for the state of Connecticut, and the Outstanding Leadership Award for Washington State in Education. She completed her bachelor's degree in teaching at Hampton University in Virginia, and her master's degree and doctoral coursework at the University of Connecticut. |
