Sherman F. Levey, Of Counsel to Boylan, Brown, spent the early part of his legal career as a partner with Sydney R. Rubin, and in 1977 that firm, which specialized in tax and estate matters, merged to form the firm then known as Harris, Beach, Wilcox, Rubin & Levey. A graduate of Syracuse University (B.S., 1957; J.D. 1959), Mr. Levey's practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning, tax planning, and tax controversies.
In addition to his law practice, Levey served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School from 1983 through 1987. From 1989 to the present he has served as a Visiting Professor of Law and member of the faculty at the Syracuse University College of Law, where he teaches tax courses and is a Co-Director of the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. He also sits as a member of the College of Law Board of Visitors. Levey is also currently on the Board of Directors of ESL Investment Services, Inc., the George Eastman House, and the Jewish Health Care System of Rochester, and was formerly a member of the Boards of the American Red Cross, Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester, and Park Ridge Hospital. Levey is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Monroe County Bar Association, and the Estate Planning Counsel of Rochester. He is also a Fellow in both the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and the American College of Tax Counsel. |
