Shelley Rucker has worked in the bankruptcy area since joining the firm in 1982. She has represented banks and insurance companies in enforcing secured obligations both in and out of bankruptcy. She has also represented special creditors committees and trade creditors asserting their own claims in bankruptcy cases and the rights of their constituencies as members of official unsecured creditors committees. Her experience also includes representing bankruptcy trustees in liquidating cases and buyers, sellers and lenders involved in bankruptcy sales. Ms. Rucker is a member of the American College of Bankruptcy Lawyers and has been named to The Best Lawyers in America in 2003 to the present for Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Law. She served as chairperson of the firm's Bankruptcy and Creditor's Rights Group until 2000. She headed the firm's Commercial Department until 2003. She is a member of the Tennessee and Georgia Bar Associations. She served as director of Mid-South Commercial Law Institute from 1995 to 2000 and as its president in 1999. She is admitted to practice before the state courts of Georgia and Tennessee, the Sixth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee and the Middle and Northern Districts of Georgia.
