Sheldon Stone is a founding member of Oaktree Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based institutional money manager specializing in alternative investment strategies. He manages the firm’s $10 billion domestic high yield bond portfolios and has supervisory responsibilities for its European high yield bond activities and Mezzanine Fund. Before forming Oaktree, he helped establish The TCW Group’s high yield bond department in 1985 and ran it for ten years. Prior to that, he was at Citibank where he served as a high yield bond credit analyst. From 1978 to 1983, Sheldon worked as a Director in the corporate finance department of The Prudential Insurance Company of America.
A native of New Jersey Sheldon holds an A.B. degree from Bowdoin College (where he serves as a Trustee) and an M.B.A. in accounting and finance from Columbia University. He currently serves on the Marshall School’s (USC) Center for Investment Studies and the National Advisory Board for Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth (Chairman 2000-2002). He is also a member of the World Presidents’ Organization. |
