2006 was a banner year for Shaun, solidifying his status as the best contest rider on the planet. From the Breckenridge Grand Prix to the US Open, no one could beat Shaun as he pulled off the seemingly impossible an undefeated season. First Shaun swept all of the Grand Prix halfpipe events to lock down his Olympic team spot. Then he scored a triple double winning the rail and slopestyle crowns at the Session-at-Vail, winning the slopestyle and superpipe at the X-Games, and winning the halfpipe and slopestyle events at the US Open. But the gold that shined the brightest for Shaun was the one he got at the Olympics, as he out-rode the best of the world’s best to win the men’s halfpipe.
His success has boosted Shaun into the international spotlight as an icon and face for snowboarding. He has made appearances on everything from Letterman to Leno, scored the covers of both Rolling Stone and Sports Illustrated, and got his ass Punk’d on MTV. If that’s not enough, Shaun has quickly established himself as a threat on the international pro vert skating circuit, as well. In between all the mayhem, Shaun even found time to travel and film for the upcoming Burton film For Right or Wrong, which chronicles his undefeated season.
When not riding, Shaun likes to fill his sketch book with ideas for his signature board, boot and outerwear line, The White Collection. This year he brings to the table new prints like the Collide-a-Plaid, new designs like the Jacket of the Gods and new ideas never before seen in snowboarding. Shaun’s pro model board also comes in six sizes now so everyone from groms up can experience the board that let’s Shaun pull off the impossible. He’s even got his own video game in the works! Despite the constant media attention, autograph sessions, contest winnings, and worldwide travel, Shaun is still just a kid from Carlsbad. For him, the most important thing is just having fun. |
