Prior to being a founding partner of Merritt & Merritt & Moulton, Sharon served as Assistant Counsel to the New York State Banking Department, where her duties included drafting legislation and regulations, such as New York State’s mortgage banking law and regulations, regulations governing mutual to stock form bank conversions and consumer protection regulations. Sharon also served as an Administrative Law Judge. She is the author of Current Issues in Mortgage Banking Regulation, published in the New York State Bar Association Real Property Law Section Newsletter, as well as numerous articles in the New York Law Journal and the National Law Journal concerning labor and employment law and civil litigation.Sharon’s practice areas include general commercial matters, including trademark and copyright; intellectual property licensing; advertising and media law; commercial contracts; real property leasing; and administrative and employment law. Her client portfolio includes manufacturers, professional service providers, specialty food producers, advertising and design-based businesses and biotech companies.Sharon is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, where she was elected to Mortar Board, the national women’s honor society, and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law, from which she received her J.D. degree in 1979 with honors in Tax, Contracts and Labor Law. She was also an English Speaking Union Scholar for the study of Archeology and Religion at the University of Lancaster in Lancaster, England. Sharon was admitted to the New York Bar in 1980 and to the Vermont Bar in 1990. She is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the District of Vermont. |
