Sean M. Devine is vice president of engineering for Con-way Freight Inc., the largest of Con-way Inc.’s three primary operating companies. Con-way Inc. is a $4.7 billion transportation and logistics company providing high-performance, day-definite less-than-truckload (LTL) and full truckload and intermodal freight transportation, as well as logistics, warehousing and supply chain management services, and trailer manufacturing.
Named to his current position in 2007, Devine is responsible for the transformation of Con-way Freight’s strategy and operations using industrial engineering, operations research and information technology. He is also responsible for Con-way Freight’s Weight and Inspection (W&I) program.
Devine previously served as vice president of engineering and supply management for Con-way Inc. In addition to engineering, he was responsible for the strategic direction of procurement, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and accounts payable. Before joining the company in 2007, Devine provided consulting in support of Con-way’s procurement transformation and other strategic initiatives.
During his career, Devine also has served as vice president of consulting services for Emptoris, a leading provider of enterprise supply management solutions. Prior to that, he was the vice president of products and services for CombineNet, a leading provider of transportation sourcing and applied optimization solutions. In those roles, Devine consulted to more than 30 Fortune 500 organizations on various supply management and transformation initiatives.
Devine holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and entrepreneurial studies from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. He is based at Con-way Freight’s headquarters in Ann Arbor, Mich. |
