Sean Morey Biography :

Signed a three-year deal with the Cardinals on 3/1/07.

Entered the league as a seventh-round draft pick of the Patriots in 1999; also played with Philadelphia in 2002 and 2003 before spending the last three seasons with Pittsburgh.

A special teams standout throughout his career, he was named the Steelers’ Special Teams Co-Captain in 2005 and 2006, leading Pittsburgh in special teams tackles in each of his three years with the Steelers (2004-06) and was named a Pro Bowl alternate in 2005.

Has played in 11 career playoff contests, earning a Super Bowl ring with the Steelers in 2005.

Pro Career:

Originally drafted by New England in the seventh round (241st overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft, was released by the Patriots on 9/27/00 before resigning to the Patriots practice squad on 10/18/00 was released on 12/18/00. Played wide receiver with the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europe prior to the 2001 season, but was out of football for the regular season. Picked up by the Eagles on 1/8/02 and attended training camp with Philadelphia but was released prior to the season. Signed by Philadelphia on 1/30/03 and again played for the Barcelona Dragons before returning to the Eagles where he appeared in all 16 games during the season, being named the special teams MVP. Was acquired by the Steelers on 9/6/04 as an unrestricted free agent and was named the special teams co-captain in 2005. Signed by Cardinals on 3/15/07 as an unrestricted free agent.

2006: Was named a Steelers Special Teams captain for the third year in a row played on special teams and had a team-high two solo special teams tackles vs. Mia (9/7) recorded two solo special teams tackles @ Jax (9/18) recorded one special teams tackle vs. Cin (9/24) saw action at WR and on special teams, recording two special teams tackles vs. KC (10/22) caught his second pass as a Steeler, good for 14 yards and a first down while collecting a team-high three solo tackles @ Atl (10/22) ... returned two kickoffs for 38 yards, including a long of 23 and recorded two tackles vs. NO (11/12) returned two kickoffs for 100 yards with a career-long 76-yarder in the second quarter @ Cle (11/19) saw action at WR and on special teams, collecting two tackles vs. TB (12/3) saw extensive action at WR and on special teams vs. Cle (12/7); caught one pass for a new career long of 15 yards, returned one punt for 22 yards and added one solo special teams tackle recorded one tackle and returned two kickoffs for 23 yards vs. Bal (12/24).

2005: Had a standout season, being named a Steelers Special Teams captain for the second consecutive season while also earning a Pro Bowl alternate nod as a special teamer made one special teams tackle vs. Ten (9/11) injured his hamstring on special teams @ Hou (9/18) inactive (hamstring) vs. NE (9/25) recorded two special teams tackles @ SD (10/10) had a team high-three special teams tackles vs. Jax (10/16) recovered a fumble on a muffed punt snap vs. Bal (10/31) saw action on special teams and as a wide receiver in the fourth quarter while recording two special teams tackles (one solo) vs. Cle (11/13) led the team with two solo special teams tackles vs. Cin (12/4) saw action at receiver after Quincy Morgan injured his ankle and missed the remainder of the game in the AFC Wild Card game @ Cin (1/8) and was credited with one defensive tackle after Cincinnati had a bad snap on a FG attempt; also collected two special teams tackles recorded one special teams tackle in the AFC Divisional game @ Ind (1/15) and also in the AFC Championship game @ Den (1/22) saw action on special teams in the Super Bowl vs. Seattle (2/5).

2004: Made his presence felt in his Steelers’ debut, tying for team lead with three special teams tackles vs. Oak (9/12) ... finished with three special teams tackles, again tying for team lead vs. Cin (10/3) ... had one special teams tackle vs. Cle (10/10) led the team with four special teams tackles @ Cin (11/21) made his first career reception on a key third-down play vs. Was (11/28) was credited with one special teams tackle in the AFC Divisional playoff game vs. NYJ (1/15) ... finished with two special teams tackles in the AFC Championship game vs. NE (1/23).

2003: Played in all 16 games with the Eagles in 2003 and was named the MVP of the NFL’s #1 ranked special teams unit, finishing second on the team with 28 special teams tackles was named to Dr. Z’s (Sports Illustrated) All-Pro team as a special teams player signed by the Eagles on 1/30 and was allocated to the Barcelona Dragons of the NFL Europe League where he caught 32 passes for 394 yards and seven touchdowns while finishing second in the league with a 26.3-yard kickoff-return average.

2002: Attended training camp with the Eagles, but was released prior to the regular season.

2001: Spent the regular season out of football before signing with the Eagles in the postseason on 1/8/02 made two special teams tackles in the NFC Wild Card game vs. TB (1/12) played defensive back with the Barcelona Dragons of the NFL Europe League in 2001, finishing the season with 39 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one interception while helping Barcelona advance to the World Bowl.

2000: Spent part of the NFL season on New England’s practice squad after being released by the Patriots following training camp on 9/27 was signed to the practice squad on 10/18, but suffered an ankle injury and signed an injury release prior to the end of the regular season 12/18 played wide receiver with the Barcelona Dragons of the NFL Europe League, catching 37 passes for 415 yards and three touchdowns.

1999: Was originally drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round (241st overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft and made the opening day roster was deactivated for the season opener before being released on 9/15 and re-signed to New England’s practice squad was added to the team’s 53-man roster on 12/7 and appeared in the final two games of the season on special teams vs. Buf (12/26) and vs. Bal (1/2), collecting five special teams tackles in the final two contests.

College:

Finished his career at Brown with an Ivy League record 251 receptions for 3,850 yards and 40 touchdowns became the only athlete in the school’s considerable history to have his number (24) retired and was recently inducted into the Brown Hall of Fame voted the Ivy League Player of the Year as a junior when he caught 74 passes for an Ivy League record 1,434 yards and 15 touchdowns earned degree with honors in organizational behavior and management.

Personal:

Full name Sean Joseph Morey played wide receiver and defensive back at Marshfield, MA High School lettered in football, basketball and track appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd on Jan. 12, 1998 one of four children (two brothers and a twin sister) wife, Cara, formerly played defender for the Brampton Thunder of the Canadian National Women’s Hockey League in Ontario, after starring at Brown in ice hockey and field hockey father, Dennis, was also a semi-pro football player with several teams, including the Brockton, MA Pros ... grandfather, Joe, and his great uncle, Dick, both have been inducted to the Bridgewater State Hall of Fame for basketball lives in Toronto with his wife and two daughters Devan and Kathryn.
