Recently promoted to Assistant General Manager/Basketball, Scott Wilkinson’s duties include, among other things, the negotiation and drafting of contracts for players, coaches and other staff; trade research; salary cap management; collective bargaining agreement issues; insurance/risk management; and scheduling of the club’s preseason games.
Wilkinson also maintains his responsibility for all legal matters and risk management for the Hawks, Atlanta Thrashers, HTPA Holding Company, Atlanta Hawks Foundation and Atlanta Thrashers Foundation.
Prior to joining Atlanta Spirit, Wilkinson was Assistant General Counsel for Turner Sports, Inc., providing legal support to all Turner Sports properties, including the Hawks, Thrashers, Atlanta Braves, World Championship Wrestling and The Goodwill Games.
Before his tenure at Turner, Wilkinson practiced law with Moore & Van Allen in Durham, NC, and was also a founding member and sports agent for Buoniconti Sports Management Group, LLC. Prior to that, he was an Associate at Ginsburg, Feldman and Bress in Washington D.C., and a Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps. Wilkinson recently retired from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel following 20 years of service.
Wilkinson attended Duke University on a football scholarship and earned his A.B. degree, cum laude, in 1985. He earned his J.D. from Duke in 1988.
Wilkinson and his wife, Beth, have two children and reside in Atlanta. He serves as a board member for the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, the Atlanta Hawks Foundation and Atlanta Thrashers Foundation. |
