Scott Nygaard, M.D., joined Via Christi Health System as Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, in October of 2006. He oversees Human Resources and Organizational Development, Information Services, General Counsel and Legal Services, Corporate Responsibility, Medical Services and Clinical Quality, Supply Chain Management, and Outreach Services.
Scott spent time as a pulmonary and critical care physician prior to moving into healthcare administration. At Via Christi, Scott is charged with managing existing and developing new corporate services, leading the integration of operational and clinical services within VCHS and developing new outreach services.
Scott served as Chief Medical Officer for Affinity Health System an integrated delivery system located in Appleton, Wisconsin from 1998 to 2006 and as President of Affinity Medical Group from1995 to 2006. In 1996, he became CEO of the Network Health System, a joint venture 50 percent physician owned and 50 percent Catholic sponsor owned not for profit organization. He held a leadership role in negotiating the merger of Network Health System, LaSalle Clinic and Network Health Plan, into Affinity Health System.
Scott began his career as an emergency room physician practicing for Spectrum Emergency Care, Inc., serving as an emergency room physician at both Mercy Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital in Iowa City and Davenport, Iowa, respectively.
A graduate of Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., Scott received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1987 and his M.B.A. From the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis in 2004. He is board certified in critical care and pulmonary medicine. |
