Scott Fisher, Ph.D., assesses what our clients can expect when operating in international markets. He has an extraordinary understanding of not only individual international markets and their cultures, but also of the unique industry regulations and competitive threats. As such, Scott can forecast the relative risk and cost of business differentials that our clients can expect to encounter.
Scott's broad economic expertise makes him incredibly adept with a wide range of analytical tools. He has performed feasibility studies, market analyses and economic impact assessments for casinos, hotels, theme parks, airports, arenas and convention facilities for clients in both the public and private sector throughout the world. He frequently prepares operational audits of existing casinos for the purpose of consulting on departmental inefficiencies. He also performs various asset valuations to evaluate potential property sales, purchases and litigation processes. To determine the ultimate viability of a new property, Scott's analyses typically require the preparation of complex, detailed operating pro formas.
Yet another of Scott's responsibilities is the generation of the economic impact reports that many clients require for governmental support of their projects. He has provided evaluations of the South Carolina video poker industry, of the emerging Detroit casino industry and of numerous individual gaming and resort projects worldwide.
Scott's sound approach and precise nature of his reports have enabled them to be used to successfully finance major resort developments worldwide. Along with Deutsche Bank and Societe Generale, he presented to potential syndicate banks to successfully secure financing for the $700+ million Wynn Resorts development in Macau.
Scott also has extensive experience in the new growth segment of racinos. To date, he has complete studies of the racino industry in 16 states, working for a cross section of track owners, government bodies and lobbying groups. His market assessments in Florida were instrumental in the passage of the racino bill allowing slot machines at tracks in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. And in West Virginia, his reports were responsible for the raising of betting limits on slots. In addition, Scott has spoken on racinos at several national gaming conferences.
Prior to joining The Innovation Group, Scott was an instructor at Tulane University, where he taught Public Finance, Law and Economics, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Concurrently with his teaching, he was employed by Oakland Econometrics as a research analyst, where he performed economic analyses for the public and private sector. Scott has a doctorate in Economics from Tulane University with a focus on International Trade, Industrial Organization and Public Finance. |
