Scott Anderson graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma City University with a bachelor of science degree in business management. He began his business career in the car rental industry immediately upon graduating when he joined the Hertz Corporation.
During a five-year association with Hertz, Anderson managed several different areas within their Administrative Headquarters in Oklahoma City.
Anderson joined Thrifty Rent-A-Car System, Inc. as the director of international operations in 1987, primarily responsible for international growth and development of new Thrifty Car Rental franchises around the world. He was promoted to director of system development 13 months later and after a year in that post, he became director of franchising and international development. In 1991, he was promoted to vice president of franchising and international development. During his tenure in international development, Thrifty marked significant growth in the European, Caribbean and Asia Pacific regions at a time when the company was publicly traded and subsequently acquired as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chrysler Corporation.
In 1992, Anderson was named vice president of staff operations for Pentastar Transportation Group, Chrysler’s holding company for its car rental operations, Thrifty and Dollar Systems, Inc. During his three years in this role, Anderson had responsibility for many different divisions of Pentastar, including risk management, reservations, corporate real estate, MIS, purchasing and supply, telecommunications and human resources.
He was named executive vice president of licensee services for Thrifty Rent-A-Car System, Inc. in 1995 when Pentastar was reorganized and most of its employees were transferred to either Thrifty or Dollar. Anderson was responsible for all franchise operations in the U.S. and Internationally as well as corporate communications, training, human resources, customer service, reservations, purchasing and supply, and image and standards.
In 1996, Anderson became the executive vice president of operations, which broadened his responsibilities to include all of the company’s corporate operations as well. In late fall of 1998, he spent 10 weeks attending the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard University. In late 1998, Anderson took on the Sales and Marketing areas of the company as well. In October of 1999, he became Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Anderson was named Senior Executive Vice President - Global Marketing and Franchise Operations for Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. in October 2003. In August 2007, Anderson took on a new role at the Company as Senior Executive Vice President - Corporate Operations. |
