Scott, a fourth generation Californian, is Chairman of the Board and General Counsel for Cornish & Carey Commercial. He holds a B.A. and L.L.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. From 1955 until 1958, he served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. After graduating from Boalt School of Law at Berkeley, he was admitted to the State of California Bar and the U.S. District Court - Northern District of California in 1962. In 1976, he was admitted to the United States Supreme Court. Scott joined Cornish & Carey in 1968 and has concentrated on commercial real estate transactions since that time. He has served as President and CEO of both the Residential and Commercial companies. In addition to real estate brokerage, he has developed both residential and commercial property and has extensive experience in negotiating with governmental agencies for the entitlement or re-entitlement of undeveloped land, including a 100-acre residential subdivision in Lafayette and a 100-acre redevelopment project for Sun Microsystems. Scott was a Palo Alto City Councilman from 1975 to 1979 and served as the Mayor of Palo Alto during his tenure. He was an organizer and the attorney for the Economic Opportunity Council of Northern Santa Clara County, a member of the Santa Clara County Land Use Commission, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley. He currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Berkeley Center for Law, Business and the Economy. The Centers goal is to research, teach and advise on the inter-relationships and impacts of the law, business and the economy, working with U.C. Berkeley’s Law School, Business School, their students and faculty, as well as the public. |
