Scott Weatherby is vice president and chief audit executive for Xcel Energy. He has more than 20 years of utility experience and previously led the corporate accounting, external reporting, management reporting and corporate budgeting functions for the company. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor, with more than 25 years of business experience in auditing, accounting and Securities and Exchange Commission reporting.
Before joining Northern States Power Co. (NSP) in 1992, he worked in the audit group at Deloitte Haskins & Sells beginning in 1980. His clients at Deloitte included many local and regional utilities, including NSP, as well as companies in the manufacturing, communications, real estate and financial services industries.
Weatherby earned a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in accounting from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
His community involvement currently includes serving on the board of directors of several nonprofit organizations, including the Twin Cities American Heart Association, the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation and Companies to Classrooms. He previously served as board president of another nonprofit organization, Storefront Youth Action.
His professional associations include the Edison Electric Institute's Internal Audit Committee, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the American Institute of CPAs. |
